PPO, the Chinese name is polyphenylene ether; English name: PPO (Polyphenylene Oxide), also called PPE (Polypheylene ether).
PPO is one of the world's top five general-purpose engineering plastics, with the characteristics of high hardness, high temperature resistance, flame retardancy, high strength and excellent electrical properties. In addition, polyphenylene ether is also wear-resistant, non-toxic and pollution-resistant. PPO has one of the smallest thermal conductivity and dielectric loss among engineering plastics, and is almost not affected by temperature and temperature, making it suitable for low, medium and high frequency electrostatic field industries.

What are the characteristics of PPO?
1. Low density
The relative density is 1.08g/cm3, which is very low among engineering plastics.
(ii) Good flame retardancy
Flame retardant grade 29, for self-extinguishing raw materials. No need to add halogen-free flame retardant for halogen bulbs, adding phosphorus-containing halogen-free flame retardant can meet UL94 standards and ensure flame retardancy grades such as V2, V1, V0, 5VB, and 5VA.

In the normal temperature range, the molecular thermal motion is small, there is no large hydrophilic group in the carbon chain, the dipole moment does not polarize, and the water resistance is very good. Especially after being immersed in hot water for a long time, its physical properties are still rarely reduced.
(IV) High high temperature resistance
The glass transition temperature is 211¡ãC, the melting point is 268¡ãC, and the thermal expansion temperature can reach 80-170¡ãC. Under long-term high temperature conditions, the structural mechanical properties remain basically unchanged.
(V) Excellent electrical properties (ranked first among general-purpose engineering plastics)
Relative dielectric constant: 2.6-2.8;
The polarization relative dielectric constant is 0.008-0.0042.
3. In what areas is PPO used?
1. Photovoltaic power generation In photovoltaic junction boxes, PPO is the mainstream raw material. As a component of solar cell modules, photovoltaic junction boxes must be used in harsh and widely varying living environment and climate conditions. In addition, photovoltaic connectors are required to have high electrical safety and protection performance, and the service life must be 25 years or more.
PPO is used in photovoltaic junction boxes, and the load deformation temperature can reach about 190¡ãC and the aging temperature is -170¡ãC.
2. Due to the low melt fluidity in automobiles, modified polyphenylene ether (MPPO) is used in practical applications. The main types include PPO/PA alloy, PPO/HIPS alloy, PPO/PP alloy, etc.
PPO/PA alloy has good fluidity, ductility, chemical resistance and paintability. It is mainly used to produce body parts such as the outside of the body, bumpers, and other decorative parts such as wheel covers, side panels, front fenders, air intakes, as well as electrical components such as fuse boxes and connectors.
PPO/HIPS alloy has good heat resistance, low shrinkage, low water absorption and low stress relaxation performance in high temperature environment; it can maintain high tensile and flexural strength at high temperature; it can maintain excellent electrical performance in a wide range of temperature, ambient humidity and frequency changes; it can still maintain good performance after multiple treatments.
