What is ABS?
ABS plastic is a terpolymer of three monomers: acrylonitrile (A), butadiene (B), and butadiene (S). The relative content of the three monomers can be changed at will to make various epoxy resins. ABS has the consistent performance of the three components. A makes it resistant to chemical corrosion and high temperature, and has a certain surface strength. B gives it high elasticity and toughness, and S gives it the processing and molding characteristics of thermosetting plastics to improve electrical properties. Therefore, ABS plastic is a "tough, hard, and rigid" raw material that is easy to obtain, has excellent comprehensive performance, is low in price, and is widely used.
Important characteristics of ABS
Due to its three components, it has very good properties; acrylonitrile gives ABS resin chemical resistance, wear resistance, and a certain strength and stiffness; butadiene gradually improves its ductility, destructiveness and cold resistance; butadiene gives it better electrical polarization properties and better process performance.
1. Most ABS are non-toxic, waterproof, but slightly permeable to water vapor, with low water absorption. The water absorption should not exceed 1% after soaking at room temperature for one year, and the physical properties will not change. The surface of ABS epoxy resin products can be polished to obtain relatively high gloss products. It is 3-5 times stronger than ordinary plastics.
2. ABS has good comprehensive physical and mechanical properties, and good ultra-low temperature impact resistance. Heat resistance.
3. ABS has good electrical properties, wear resistance, chemical resistance, dyeing resistance, and finished product processing machinery. ABS epoxy resin is resistant to moisture, carbonates, alkalis and alkalis, insoluble in most aldehydes and hydrocarbon solvents, but easily soluble in aldehydes, ketones, esters and other chlorinated hydrocarbons. ABS epoxy resin has a low thermal expansion temperature and is flammable, and has weak temperature resistance. The melting temperature is 217~237¡æ, and the decomposition reaction temperature is around 250¡æ. Most of the modified ABS raw materials in the current market are mixed with plastic recycled materials and recycled particles. As a result, the performance of customer-molded products is not very stable.
Application fields of ABS
1. In automobile manufacturing, electrical instrumentation industry, and mechanical engineering: often used as transmission gears, auto parts, bumpers, guardrails, refrigerator linings, leaves, rolling bearings, door handles, pipes, connectors, instrument housings, car dashboards, panels, safety helmets, etc.
2. Electrical appliances, household electronic equipment: TV, recorder, refrigerator, freezer, floor scrubber, air conditioner, vacuum cleaner, various small electrical appliances
3. Daily necessities: shoes, bags, various suitcases, office supplies, small toys, various utensils, etc.
4. Electroplating products: metal material substitutes, coral strips, heat pipe radiators, wheel covers, factory nameplates, accessories, etc.
5. Office equipment: ABS parts are widely used in telephone cases, memory chip cases, computers, printers, and printers.
